MRB AT THE 24 TH EAST AFRICAN LAW SOCIETY (EALS) ANNUAL CONFERENCE & GENERAL ASSEMBLY, 2019.

As one of the leading law firms in East Africa, MRB consistently supports the East African Law Society and its programs. In the 24 th EALS Annual Conference and General Assembly that took place from 4th to 9th November 2019 at the Kigali International Convention Centre, Serena Hotel and Intare Conference Hall, in Rwanda, it was an opportune moment for MRB to show that actually charity begins at home! The guest of honour flagging off the events at the Convention Centre was none other than His Excellency President Paul Kagame who encouraged lawyers to continue selflessly pursuing access to justice and the rule of law. MRB is a regular supporter of the EALS leading law firms’ forum, the annual conference and related events. At the 24th EALS Annual Conference and General Assembly, MRB was both a sponsor and an active participant in all events. MRB had some of its personnel attend the Leading Law Firms Forum at Intare Conference Hall, the ILFA/ EALS Legal Excellency Academy at the Serena, the In-house Counsels’ Forum, the Women Lawyers’ Forum, the Kigali International Arbitration Centre Symposium and all related or programmed events. It was a time to catch up with old colleagues and friends, say thank you to those that contribute to the justice sector in East Africa and to ensure that young lawyers get the necessary skills, knowledge and exposure to take forward this great regional fraternity.

Anita Mugeni receiving a plaque appreciating MRB’s continued support and sponsorship to the leading law firms’ forum and Athanase Rutabingwa with Rwanda’s Minister of Justice & Attorney General the Hon. Johnston Busingye.

From 5th – 6th September 2016, the Government of Rwanda through Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Common Market for Eastern & Southern Africa (COMESA) hosted “The  Global Africa Investment Summit” for the first time in Africa. The President of Rwanda – H.E. Paul Kagame opened the summit officially. The opening was also graced by the presence of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda. This Summit has always been held in London, so Rwanda was its pioneer host in Africa at the brand new Kigali International Convention Centre.

MRB Attorneys did not only participate in the summit but also sponsored the welcome “Cocktail Party” held on the evening of the 4th September at the Marriott Hotel, Kigali.  MRB was represented by Athanase Rutabingwa – Partner. The RDB was appreciative of MRB’s support and the parties look forward to collaborate on other projects. The Summit is a great networking opportunity and provided an opportunity to many businesses and stakeholders to connect and push forward the African Development agenda.

MRB ATTORNEYS AT THE ALL AFRICA BUSINESS LEADERS AWARDS (AABLA)

MRB was among the corporate citizens to grace the 5th AABLA held in Kigali at the brand new Kigali Convention Centre on 8th September 2016. It was a great meeting of business leaders from all East Africa and the rest of Africa. Although the Gala Dinner was itself wonderful and a great networking opportunity, it was also a time to break new ground by Rwandan businesses that were recognized at this great event. We congratulate all Rwandan winners at AABLA and in a special way our own BANK OF KIGALI & TRUST INDUSTRIES – Kudos! We are proud of you and we cherish working and look forward to continuing to work with great industry leaders like yourselves.
